What We’re Working On

This is a glimpse into our studio as it stands today.

The pieces shown here represent what we are currently making—works in progress, recently completed forms, and materials actively being shaped. Some are private commissions developed in close collaboration with clients. Others are studio pieces, created through exploration of exceptional wood and thoughtful design.

Each project begins with careful selection. Slabs are chosen for character, scale, and integrity, then studied to determine how best to honor the material. Grain, voids, and natural movement guide the process from first cut to final finish.

This page is not a portfolio of past work. It is a living view of our present focus—what’s on the bench, what’s in finish, and what’s nearing completion.

Availability is limited. Occasionally, a piece shown here may be available for immediate placement.

Black Walnut Coffee Table

This coffee table begins with a singular black walnut slab—selected for its depth of color, movement, and natural voids formed over decades of growth. Rather than conceal these openings, we preserve them.

Clear epoxy is used sparingly and intentionally, filling cavities and checks while remaining fully transparent. The result is not a surface that competes with the wood, but one that reveals it—allowing light to pass through areas once shaped by time, weather, and decay.

Walnut’s rich browns and subtle purples contrast against the clarity of the epoxy, creating depth without distraction. The filled voids read as negative space made solid, maintaining the slab’s original silhouette while enhancing stability and usability.

Every pour is executed slowly and precisely to ensure optical clarity and long-term integrity. Once cured, the surface is meticulously leveled and finished, resulting in a table that feels seamless to the touch while remaining visually complex.

This piece balances refinement and restraint—natural material, preserved honestly, elevated through technique. The epoxy does not define the table; it simply allows the walnut’s story to remain visible.

In Progress - Black Walnut Floating Shelf

Entryway Floating Shelf

This project begins with an exceptional six-inch-thick black walnut slab, sourced specifically to meet our client’s vision for their entryway. The scale and density of the material are uncommon, chosen not only for its visual presence but for the structural confidence required of a floating installation.

At this stage, the slab remains largely untouched. The wood is being studied—its grain, movement, and edge—before any cuts are made. This period is essential, allowing the final proportions and orientation to be determined with intention rather than assumption.

The piece will be cut precisely to size, milled, and finished to reveal the depth and character inherent to the walnut. Once complete, it will read as both architectural and understated—appearing to float effortlessly while carrying the weight and history of the material.

This work is currently in its earliest phase. What follows is a careful progression from raw form to refined presence.

Black Walnut Shelves at Crawford Square

The black walnut floating shelves are now finished and installed at Crawford Square, Burgess Creek. Each piece was carefully sourced and crafted to honor the material’s natural depth, movement, and grain, resulting in shelving that is as sculptural as it is functional.

The thick walnut slabs were meticulously milled, refined, and finished to showcase their character while maintaining the clean, floating aesthetic our clients envisioned. Now in place, the shelves integrate seamlessly into the space, balancing strength, elegance, and the quiet luxury of natural wood.

This installation exemplifies our approach: materials selected with intention, crafted with precision, and placed to enhance the environment.
